1. What topics will be covered at the summit this year?
The exact topics will be determined relatively close to the event and will depend on the interests of the participants, which will be surveyed beforehand.

2. Who are the experts giving presentations at the summit?
There will be many experts from EQUA present at the summit, including experienced users who are familiar with the numerous features, as well as the physical models and modeling techniques. There will also be program developers who have expertise in the numerical background and algorithms.

 

3. What types of workshops are offered, and how interactive are they?
A mix of presentation-style lessons, individual exercises, and group exercises will be offered. The group exercises will involve assigned tasks that can be chosen from, and participants can also suggest topics for group exercises. The idea is for participants to discuss solution approaches in groups and then split up to find solutions and present them at the end.

 

4. Will there be specific use cases or case studies presented during the summit?
The group exercises, in particular, can be presented as case studies. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to bring their own questions and problem models to the summit.

 

5. How many participants are there, and are there networking opportunities?
The summit attracts participants of all experience levels from various fields and countries, providing an excellent networking opportunity. Typically, we have 15-25 participants. Typically, lasting business contacts are also made at the Summit.

 

6. Are there new products or technologies to explore during the summit?
EQUA is constantly engaged in the development and advancement of new extensions and technologies. The summit is THE opportunity for IDA ICE users to learn about and test the latest developments.

 

7. Are there opportunities to discuss individual questions or challenges with the experts?
Absolutely! Feel free to bring your simulation project, and we will support you throughout the entire week.

 8. How can the summit help expand my knowledge and skills in the field of IDA ICE?

Away from the hectic everyday life, you can fully focus on your simulation challenges. The diverse content provides a broader perspective on the usual solution approaches and applications of simulation. The summit combines IDA ICE intensive training, workshops, product demonstrations, networking, and relaxation all in one.


 9. Is the summit suitable for all experience levels, or is it more geared towards advanced users?

The summit is suitable for participants of all experience levels. It covers both fundamental and advanced topics. Our program is designed to provide valuable insights and inspiration for both newcomers and experienced professionals. We will provide individual support, and as a beginner, you will also learn from other participants who have more experience.

 

10. What are the benefits of attending the summit compared to other events or IDA ICE online lessons?
Attending the summit offers numerous advantages compared to other events or online resources. You will have direct access to simulation experts and the IDA ICE developers, allowing you to benefit from their knowledge and experience. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to make valuable connections and engage with like-minded individuals in an inspiring environment. The combination of presentations, interactive workshops, and product demonstrations enables you to expand your knowledge and gain new perspectives.

 

11. Is the ascent to the venue challenging, and is there possibly support for people with limited mobility?
The climb takes us along narrow trails, but it isn't technically very difficult. However, it can certainly become a challenge in bad weatherIt's important that you wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing, and pack your belongings in a single (not multiple!) backpack that fits you comfortably.

 12. What kind of accommodation options are available during the summit?

SAC huts are mountain shelters operated by the Swiss Alpine Club. They provide hikers and mountaineers with basic accommodation in the mountains. Due to their isolated location, they cannot offer the same level of comfort as a hotel in certain aspects. Beds in the huts are usually arranged in dormitories and are generally assigned on a first-come, first-served basisGuests are requested to bring their own silk or linen sleeping bags for the hut. However, there is usually the option to rent a small number of sleeping bags for an additional fee.


 13. Is there Wi-Fi?

No, there is no Wi-Fi at the hut. And network coverage from the Swisscomis providedonly outside of the hut. The EU roaming regulations do not apply in Switzerland, as Switzerland is not a member of the European Union. If you are traveling from an EU country to Switzerland, roaming charges may apply. It is advisable to check with your mobile network provider about the exact roaming rates and conditions before your trip to avoid any unpleasant surprises. However, for a limited bandwidth, we will be able to offer a hotspot for free and give more information shortly before the event.

 

14. Is there hot water and showers? Are there only shared washing facilities?
There are shared toilets and washing facilities (separate for women and men). A short hot water shower will be possible to a limited extent, but will cost half a fortune. But we promise that you won't regret a single dip in the river near the hut! It is also advisable to bring your own towel and personal hygiene items.

 15. Are there restaurants or cafes near the venue where participants can have their meals?

No, there will be absolutely nothing but breathtaking views over montain summits and glaciersBut no worries: During the summit, we will be provided with 3 meals a day at the Voralphütte. Additionally, there is theoption to order food and drinks from the menu. Snacks such as chocolate and cake, as well as hot andcold beverages, including both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks are available at the hut.


 16. Is there a shuttle service from the airport to the meeting point?

We organize a shared arrival by train. Registered participants will receive an online questionnaire in advance, where they can indicate if they want to join this shared arrival. We will also arrange the train tickets. If you are not arriving via the airport, you will need to arrange your own travel to Göschenen train station. We recommend using public transportation for this as the network is well-developed and the means of transport are reliable. You can check timetables and departure times at www.sbb.ch/en.

If you're coming by car, we'd ask you to also come to the Göschenen train station so that you can help out with the Alpine taxi service we've organized and give other participants a ride to the starting point of our hike.

17. Are special dietary requirements considered for the meals?
Registered participants will receive an online questionnaire in advance, where any allergies or requests for a vegetarian menu will be asked, so that we can pass on your preferences accordingly. Unfortunately, vegan menus cannot be provided.

 18. What activities or excursions are offered outside the summit program?

We will undertake shared hikes and walks in the hut's surroundings.

 

19. Can I explore the surroundings during the summit, such as going on hikes?
As long as time allows, this is certainly possible.

 20. Are there recreational facilities or relaxation options on-site, such as a gym or wellness area?

The nature of the alpine world is our wellness area. After dusk, weather permitting, a clear starry sky will inspire us, and before dawn the waningmoon will illuminate the scenery. As mentioned previously: You will never ever regret a dip in one of the nearby mountain rivers or lakes, even if this will be more or less inviting depending on the weather! And as usual, we will transport our tent sauna to the hut.
